Your ROAR!

A ROAR!ing Influence by Sharon Duerst

A ROAR!ing Influence by Sharon Duerst

I heard it–the whisper growing to a roar, the rhythm pounding. It was Cinda’s voice filled with passion, love, inspiration, courage. The strength of the words swept us up. Our energies merged as we listened, shifting us from individual perspectives to a collective of hearts and minds. Strung together with a supporting strand of compassion, we shared some of our pain, and our hopes. And we did not feel bare. We were shored up, more than a diverse group of women just meeting at the Awesome Women Hub in Seattle for an October 2011 weekend. We shared, laughed, cried, ate. Later, we hugged warm goodbyes. The weekend was good for me. Affirming. Not earth shaking, not life...

One Day I Just Woke Up

One Day I Just Woke Up

Sometimes, victims don’t realize that they are victims. It took me a very long time (40 years) to realize that I was abused.  As a child, we were abused with beatings, but it became my “normal”.  So, when I got married, I found someone to “abuse” me verbally. I wasn’t able to see it, until one day I just “woke up”. It took every ounce of courage I could muster to leave him. I had received a bit of Angelic Divine help at every step, but I have always hidden this, looking at it as a curse rather than a boon.  I was given the ability to see my own death if I stayed with him, and the only way to keep living was to leave him. That was 5 years ago and I’m...

I Am NOT a Victim!

I Am NOT a Victim!

I am tired of feeling like it’s shameful to talk about it – when it is a widespread problem that will never be solved in a closet or under a rug! I was abused as a child, and several members of my family have been also. If we do not break the silence and ROAR! above the shame, then the cycle cannot be stopped!  Sexual abusers create sexual abusers and/or victims. I say, NO MORE!I ROAR! – WE ARE NOT WHAT HAPPENS TO US! We have a choice to EXIT the cycle with competent professional help!!  THERE IS NO SHAME in getting help! END THE CYCLE AND START TALKING TO START HEALING! I did… and it was hard… and cost me a lot… and it hurt… but it also FREED ME from being...

Just ROAR!

Just ROAR!

“Just Roar” … when you’re energy is low ♥ “Just Roar” … when you need to feel strong & confident ♥ “Just Roar” … when it’s time to get really CLEAR about your boundaries ♥ … in 1984 I gave birth to my son at home, co-founded a women’s ritual group and began my spiritual sojourn to reawaken and embody the Powerful, Sacred Feminine. Back then, we whispered the goddess’s many names and were even dismissed by otherwise ‘feminist’ academics. Today, we are here, leading the awakening! What a time to be alive, eh? Here’s how I’m helping people (mostly women)...

ROAR! is so Bodacious!

ROAR! is so Bodacious!

It was so inspiring and freeing to spend some time in our ROAR workshop at the Awesome Women Hub event in Seattle. My sister, Sharon, and I both attended and both commented on how as strong women we frequently worry that our ROAR is perceived as being a roaring bitch, rather than one of empowerment. Your beautiful statement of ROAR shifted that fear and changed our entire perspective providing a new sense of permission to stand up for ourselves and ROAR when needed without feeling the need to apologize. Now whenever I have to call and complain about poor customer service, defective products or other such things, I shift my thoughts to ROARing and feel stronger and even...

Helping Others ROAR!

Helping Others ROAR!

After reading the article ROAR! by Cinda Lonsway in the September edition of the Wild Sister e-zine, I was so moved by that article.  It touched me emotionally in such a way, I felt like I had to contribute something, anything, in any way that I could to help in this world wide movement of bringing the women of this planet together to ROAR! in one united voice. After giving it some thought as to exactly what could I do, I decided I would dedicate my Facebook site to this movement.  I am in the process of gathering as many Facebook sites as I can find that are participating in the Empowerment of Women and their causes and posting their link on my facebook page. I...

It’s About Time!

It’s About Time!

I met Cinda only a few years ago and she has been source of inspiration to me since. When Cinda wrote ROAR! and showed it to me, I could only think “it’s about time!”.  It’s about time someone took the lead and started a movement that does not focus on controversy or conflict, but one that builds a better environment and opportunities for people.  It’s about time that constructive voice is being “Roared” out. As ROAR! grows so does our society and the well-being of both genders and all ages.  This is a powerful and important message to everyone.  All you have to do is ROAR!.    ...

I Took a Stand!

I Took a Stand!

Three years ago this month I took a stand and decided I would never work for anyone but myself, ever again. I spent years working for employers who did not understand my profession. Employers who were demanding, self-centered, and hypocritical. I took a stand when my job was outsourced. I took a stand against employers who asked for increasingly more, no matter how much you gave. I took a stand against employers who claimed they treasured their employees above all else, but then treated them badly. Instead, at this crucial point in my career, I decided to stand for myself. I decided that the only person who will treasure me as an employee would be me. I decided...

NO MORE! Mean People

Today, I’m roaring about Mean People — people that purposefully go out of their way to say cruel things about others; that take delight in cutting others down. If only they could use that energy for good and to build others up as opposed to take them down. It makes me sad to see this behavior in people I considered friends. NO MORE will I let them rail unfairly against others just to make themselves feel superior. If we can collectively “ROAR!” against this negative behavior, that positive energy we replace it with will grow and start to effect the world in politics, business and elsewhere.

I am ENOUGH!

I am ENOUGH!

I have come to a conclusion: I deserve respect, I am enough (actually I am more than just enough), and I will be placed high on the list of priorities when it comes to romance. I am deserving, accepting and giving — no matter what decisions I make, know this: I will be loved, not tolerated and I will receive the credit for the type of partner I am. http://magickinwords.blogspot.com/

The ROAR! of Inspired Writing

The ROAR! of Inspired Writing

Perhaps because I had had some experience with inspired writing, I had the honor of being one of the first people Cinda contacted for a reaction to ROAR! after she allowed it to come through her. It immediately gave me chills. As Cinda described what had happened, it was clear to me not only that this powerful statement had come from a source beyond her human consciousness, but that it was intended to be experienced by women and men of all ages, all around the world. I truly believe that this one remarkable piece of writing can – and will – help to set in motion fundamental changes that will make the world a better place. Jack Armstrong Author, Lessons from the Source:...
